🎹 Build an Organ! Presented by Upper Valley Music Center In-Person
Family Program | Hands-On | Free!
Ever wondered how a pipe organ works? Join the Upper Valley Music Center for a one-of-a-kind, hands-on experience where families can help build a working pipe organ from the ground up!
Discover the inner workings of the “king of instruments” with Alex Stewart, music director and organist at South Congregational Church of Newport, Nh. In this workshop we’ll put together a working pipe organ from start to finish! No organ or musical experience necessary, just a willingness to work together. At the end of the workshop participants and other library visitors will have the opportunity to try out the instrument.
This interactive event invites kids and grownups to explore the science, sound, and mechanics behind one of the world’s most powerful instruments. Piece by piece, you'll work together to assemble the organ, learn how air creates sound, and—once it’s complete—hear it come to life!
🛠️ What You’ll Do:
-
Learn about how organs produce music
-
Help assemble real organ components
-
Hear the final result in a live demonstration
No musical experience needed—just curiosity and teamwork! Perfect for kids, families, and anyone who loves music or building things.
